Bridal Tips
Bridal Tips Courtesy of Allie Wester of
Weddings by Allie:
Tip: When attending a bridal show,
take pre-printed labels with your name, address,
phone number, Email address, and of course your
wedding date for the vendors who want you to
register for door prizes or giveaways. It's a
big time saver and prevents you from having to
write the same information 15 - 20 times. See
you at the bridal shows!
Tip: If you are having your bridal
portrait taken outside, be sure to take a bed
sheet or a piece of plastic with you. Place the
sheet or the plastic on the ground under your
dress to protect the hem and the train of your
dress from being soiled by grass stains, dew, or
dirt. Also, don't wear your bridal shoes to
take your portraits
because
you will run the risk of getting them soiled.
Instead, wear a pair of shoes that have the same
heel height as your bridal shoes.
Tip:
When you schedule your portrait session, remember to
order a small bouquet from your florist also. It
doesn't have to be the same as your wedding day
bouquet, even if it's a single, long stemmed rose,
it will be something to hold for your portraits.
Tip:
Before you decide anything, and I mean
ANYTHING....determine what style of wedding you will
be having. Formal, semi-formal or informal...this
will set the tone for all of your decisions and
prevent you from going in too many different
directions.
Tip:
Remember to try to involve your groom in your
decision making. But also remember that weddings
may not be something your groom knows a lot about! :
) So give him projects he is familiar with. The
Tuxes, the entertainment, the transportation and the
honeymoon. You know he won't know the
difference between the colors coral and salmon so
give him what he knows!!!

Market:
Tip: You know the flower (rose) petals
that you can buy in a plastic cylinder for your
flower girl to drop as she's walking down the aisle
or decorate the tables with? We have an alternative
that's less expensive and allows you more
versatility in colors. Just buy the silk floral
"bushes" at Wal-Mart or other stores in the colors
that you want to use. Pop off the flower heads from
the stems and then separate the layers of petals.
Once the layers are separated cut the petals apart.
Tip: On your wedding day, after you've put
on your wedding gown, and you're just standing
around waiting with your bridesmaids for the
ceremony to begin, you are going to get really tired
of standing in that heavy dress! So, pack one of
those folding "bar stools" to place under your
wedding gown to sit on (or actually lean your behind
on) to rest your legs. It's the perfect height to
place under your wedding gown for you to sit on
without running the risk of wrinkling or
creasing your dress. If you do have to use a chair,
make sure someone lifts up the back of your gown to
drape over the back of the chair to keep it fluffed
while sitting.
Tip: Most brides (and sometimes
bridesmaids) forget to eat on the wedding day or
they think they're too nervous to eat. Ask one of
your bridesmaids or a family member to be
responsible for bringing something like crackers
(plain saltines, no cheese filled!), apple wedges,
and clear colas like Sprite or 7-Up to the dressing
area for you and your bridesmaids. These foods are
easy on the stomach and don't cause stains. Even if
you don't feel hungry, or think you're too nervous
to eat, eat a couple of crackers and/or a couple of
apple wedges anyway. A light snack can prevent you
from getting a headache or feeling weak or dizzy
during the ceremony. You want to feel your best so
you can enjoy every minute!
